It may feel good to start the day with a hot cup of tea or coffee right after waking up. But it is actually the root cause of various diseases.

In the morning our body is slightly acidic and our stomach is empty. Putting acidic tea or coffee into an already acidic body can damage the intestinal lining and cause an increase in acidic digestive juices on an empty stomach.

“Acidity is the root cause of these unhealthy morning habits,” says Sonia Velarsan, a dietician and doctoral fellow in nutrition at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research in Chennai.

3. Eating without washing the face:

Dr Mamit Kumar, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Maharishi Markandeshwar College of Dental Sciences and Research, Haryana cautions that one should not drink or eat before washing or cleaning the mouth. He says that bacteria that stay in the mouth overnight will spread to the gut and affect the intestines, increasing the risk of intestinal infections.

If you rinse your mouth thoroughly after eating, you will see food particles from the previous meal. Think about keeping those particles stuck between your teeth or in your mouth for a long time.

He recommends rinsing your mouth especially after drinking tea, coffee, colored drinks, or colas, as these tend to stain teeth. In people with any underlying systemic conditions, germs may increase the risk of infection. It is always healthy to wash your mouth before and after eating.

4. Consume soaked almonds:

Many health-conscious people soak nuts such as almonds, cashews, pistachios, and walnuts for their health benefits. Almonds are undoubtedly a wonderful food rich in essential fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.

However, nuts have a raw coating that contains inhibitory enzymes like phytic acid, lectins, oxalates, and tannins. They are anti-nutrients that bind to certain minerals and interfere with their absorption in our bodies.

So eating soaked nuts will disrupt the absorption of these minerals from the nuts or other foods we eat,” says Sonia Velersan.

Moreover, soaked almonds have relatively high bioavailability and are easy for the body to digest, he explains.

However, for those with digestive and absorption problems or colon disease, peeling off the skins of soaked almonds overnight is recommended; Others can eat them soaked and without the peel.
