About Professor Sven Plein

Professor Plein is a recognized world-leading expert in cardiac imaging and cardiac MRI. Professor Plein studied medicine in Marburg/Germany and received his MD from Philips University, Marburg/Germany in 1995 and his PhD from the University of Leeds in 2004. He is now a Professor of Cardiology, a British Heart Foundation Senior Clinical Research Fellow and a Consultant Cardiologist.

Professor Plein’s main clinical and research interests are cardiovascular imaging, with a focus on cardiac MRI and imaging. He has published more than 150 research papers and many book chapters in this field. He has held numerous positions in international cardiovascular and imaging societies, including Vice-Presidency of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging and Chair of the Association’s CMR Section, Senior Associate Editor of the European Heart Journal-Cardiovascular Imaging, and is a former board member. Trustee of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
