See your doctor regularly. Choose a provider you trust and feel comfortable with, so you can discuss your health care openly. It’s ideal to see your doctor for a physical at least every year, if you’re healthy and in your 20s or 30s, schedule an appointment at least every two years. See your primary care physician annually if you are age 40 and older. Learn more about recommended screenings for you as you age.
Eat well for a healthy waistline and a healthy you. That means eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables; Eating fish at least two to three times per week; and replacing saturated fats with healthy, unsaturated fats from sources like avocados, olive oil, and nuts.
Make the movement a mainstay. Remember, even small bursts of physical activity add up.
Less pressure. Develop work-life balance and find healthy ways to relieve stress. Personally, I practice mindfulness daily.
Value sleep. Quit smoking and don’t drink too much. If you smoke, don’t quit! Limit alcohol consumption to no more than two drinks per day. One drink is equal to one 12-ounce beer, four ounces of wine or one and a half ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits.
Don’t ignore what’s below the belt. If you’re having problems in your bedroom or bathroom, you’re far from alone — and you shouldn’t be.
