My professional activity centers on the administration of the MGH/Mclean Adult Psychiatry Residency. I maintain clinical and teaching activities in a variety of settings such as the MGH Emergency Psychiatry Service, the outpatient clinic where I see psychiatric patients with comorbid medical conditions, and the Clinical Evaluation Center (CEC – Admitting Unit) at McLean Hospital. Academic interests include creating clear clinical training expectations in the form of expressible goals and objectives in the language of core competencies.

I developed an innovative leadership seminar for chief residents within the MGH/McLean residency that APA uses for its annual executive leadership program for chief residents. Additionally, the curriculum design of the training program I lead is based on an integrated, longitudinal approach to clinical needs so that training is less modular and enables greater complexity and depth as training progresses each year. This was demonstrated by the inclusion of the internship year as an integral part of the training program that began in 2005 for a more longitudinal integration of psychiatry with medicine. Additionally, I teach various seminars including a) the PGY-1 Reading Seminar, b) the PGY-1 History of Psychiatry Seminar, and c) the Chief Resident Leadership Seminar.
