About Dr Torsten Wiegand
Dr. Wiegand was born and raised in Germany and holds dual US/German citizenship. He attended Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn, Germany, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and received an honorary Fulbright grant. After earning a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, he went on to receive his medical degree from Columbia University. He completed an internship in internal medicine at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Wiegand trained at the Harvard Medical School Residency in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston and as an Ophthalmologist in Boston and a Fellow in Vitreoretinal Disease at Tufts University – New England Eye Center. He has experience in the treatment and surgery of diseases such as retinal detachment, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other complex retinal pathologies.
