Raj Sipani, a 35-year-old entrepreneur and fitness enthusiast from Noida in Uttar Pradesh, recalls how he experienced the benefits of a great sleep pattern after he started working out regularly.

“I have been working for over ten years now, and what started as a hobby has now become my passion,” says Sipani. “I go to the gym every day — mostly in the evening after work — not only for fitness [but also] it reduces daily stress and tension.

A June 2021 study on the effects of exercise on sleep quality and insomnia in adults found that regular physical, as well as mind-body exercise, primarily improved subjective sleep quality rather than physiological sleep quality in adults.

Jasmine Singh, a 29-year-old copywriter from Delhi, added yoga, dance, and pilates to her fitness routine following her doctor’s advice. “I have a desk job, so I wasn’t very physically active and had difficulty sleeping at night,” she says. “Now, I sleep better when I’m tired after work and my physical activity.”
