Life Hacks for Healthy Living
It is unfortunate that a profession where people study human health is often at such great personal cost to health care professionals themselves. The high wages, long hours, and stress of some healthcare jobs affect the quality of life for many people.
To help you prioritize healthy living, we’ve put together seven easy lifestyle hacks that you can work into your own daily routine to maintain prosperity!
1. prepare everything the night before
How many times have you pulled out of your driveway and realized you forgot your phone charger, your lunch, or your work shoes? Worse, how many times have you gotten all the way through your work and realized you forgot something important? Avoid the habit of procrastination by preparing everything the night before and keeping your things by the door. If you need to keep something in the fridge until the last minute, leave a note for yourself or place something colorful or unusual near the door to jog your memory.
2. Lunch is smarter, not harder
Bringing lunch to work is a great way to save money and time. Shop and pack for all the healthy things you want your future self to eat, especially high-energy foods like fruit, nuts, beans, and whole grains.
A great way to prepare ahead of time for lunch is to double the recipe for every meal you make at home. Make small portions and store them in a container ready for lunch. So when it’s late or you’re tired and you still have to get ready for the next day (see Step 1), you’ll have a portion of your lunch ready and one less thing to worry about.
3. bike for work
Yes, it takes a little more preparation, but biking to work can become one of the best parts of your day. In addition to being a great, low-impact form of regular exercise, riding your bike frees you from traffic and makes your daily routine more interesting…all great stress relievers. You also get to meet different people and see different parts of the city. bonus: you will save so much money on gas!
4. Gently remove yourself
We’ve all been there: on the receiving end of a long conversation that we don’t have time for but can’t seem to drag ourselves away from. If you work in healthcare, these uncomfortable interactions can take away from your work. Developing a method for politely removing yourself from chatter can be very liberating.
5. workout as you watch TV
it won’t take long for this habit to stick. You’d be surprised at the amount of laundry done during a single episode of “Game of Thrones”.
6. Healthy Legs, Healthy Head
In fact, 2 million sick days are spent every year in these debilitating conditions. A few basics to keep rolling:
7. Power down at night
There are many reasons to switch off the phone two hours before bed. So turn off that screen and pick up a book if you’re not ready for some zzz’s yet.
