We spoke to Dr. Sumit Nigam, General Physician, Sahara Hospital, Lucknow to know more details about this disease. He told us that the flu was causing blisters and some red rashes all over his body. This is also a possible reason; It is called tomato flu. According to our health expert, this viral flu can be related to chikungunya or dengue as most of the symptoms are similar.

Since not much is known so far, it is difficult to comment on the cause of this tomato flu. But as health authorities say, it could spread further in a few days and affect more children. Hence advice is given to prevent the spread of this flu among children.
Prevention Tips for Tomato Flu
Since most of the cases have occurred in Kerala, it may be possible to avoid the widespread impact and adverse health conditions tomato flu can bring. Kerala’s medical team is testing entrants in Coimbatore for fever and skin rash. They are even testing for other illnesses along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, where some cases have been recorded. A team of 24 members has also been recruited to screen families of children under 5 years of age with symptoms of tomato flu.
